I’m on a personal mission to create businesses that succeed when society benefits. I absolutely love partnering with progressive leaders and companies to improve health, solve inequities, and strengthen our communities.
— Carlos Rodarte

Carlos Rodarte founded Volar Health, LLC upon seeing many organizations struggle in creating their initial customer base and meaningfully improving society, despite being mission-oriented.

Today, as Founder & Managing Director, Volar Health, LLC has grown to become a leading strategy and innovation consultancy enabling healthcare organizations, life sciences companies, and leading startups to build and commercialize data-driven solutions that improve health and society.

Most recently, as Senior Vice President, Life Sciences Strategy & Business Development at Health Catalyst, Inc. (IPO 2019, HCAT), he helped shape the life sciences industry to become more patient-centered and outcomes-focused. Health Catalyst, Inc. is a leading provider of data, analytics technology, and services to a range of health care and research organizations that leverages data from more than 100 million patient records and encompassing trillions of facts.

Prior, Carlos became ultra-focused on improving mental wellbeing and was co-founder & CEO of HealthRhythms, Inc., a behavioral health startup discovering and developing novel digital biomarkers to improve research and enhance remote patient monitoring. By utilizing smartphone sensors, voice biomarkers, and mobility patterns, HealthRhythms, Inc. was helping decode how human behaviors indicate mood anomalies.

Beforehand, he went deep in understanding a patient’s lived experience at PatientsLikeMe, Inc. (acquired by UnitedHealth Group, UNH), the leading peer-to-peer research platform. He created Global Network Access, the companies first enterprise data subscription product and successfully commercialized it within the life sciences industry. He also led the efforts to engage patients in discovering digital biomarkers, validating digital therapeutics, and enabling the adoption of patient-reported outcome measures created through Open Research Exchange, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) funded, open-source initiative.

Earlier in his career, Carlos was a life sciences strategy consultant with The Frankel Group, LLC (acquired by Huron Consulting Group, Inc., HURN), where he created Research & Development and commercial strategy for large pharmaceuticals to small biotech startups developing novel assets, diagnostics, and research technology platforms.

Carlos is an internationally-recognized speaker on health innovation, member of several boards, and active startup advisor for organizations like Suggestic, Inc. (precision nutrition to improve health and disease), Onboard Health, Inc. (inclusive workforce development in public health arena), and MassChallenge, Inc. (global startup accelerator).

Recognizing that sustainable innovations need access to capital and need to be evidence-based, Carlos is a Venture Fellow at FundRx, Inc. (network-driven venture capital firm focused exclusively on early-stage health and life sciences startups), a Partner at AccelHub, Inc. (fund and accelerator focused on Latin American founders and technologies), and is on the Editorial Board of Digital Biomarkers, a open-access journal by Karger Publishers.

In the past, Carlos was named “Top 100 Digital Health Influencer” by Onalytica and "40 under 40 Healthcare Innovator" by MedTech Boston.

Working Together

We are selective in the types of engagements we take on given our resourcing model. Our Founder & Managing Director personally oversees all engagements and depending on the need, builds a "strike team" to help deliver on a project's goals. Volar Health has an extensive network of domain experts to draw from for various projects, including senior executives to pressure test strategic recommendations to data scientists and experience designers to help implement novel projects.
